I use a heatpad to keep the beer warm..
And at the mo.. with the Perth weather, its about 10 at night (with the rain), and 18 during the day...
I use a timer to have it on more at night, and less during the day..
If i'm brewing with a 15L fermenter (specialty brews), and dont cover it, it'll stay nicely at 24C
If i use the 30L fermenter and dont cover it, it'll stay at 18C
If i cover the 30L fermenter (with an old wetsuit with the legs cut off), it'll boost the temp up to 22-24C...
It the ambient temp changes, i change the timer accordingly... So it pays to look at the 7 day forcast on the news...
Those wetsuits fit tight against the fermenter and act like a big stubbie cooler (or warmer in this case)..

the best heat source ?
No its attached to the side with some wet suit material over it so it wont read the room temp, corresponds well to what the sticker one says - but then they are not %100 either, but it works well for me. Same type of setup for the lager fridge too.Adzmax wrote:Yeah was goign to suggest that. Do you have a probe in the brew?wambesi wrote:I use heat belts and a fridgemate to keep them at ale temps...works a treat.
