I don't have anything against it. It's a good, quality yeast. I think a lot of ppl don't like it because of the way the Coopers kits instruct you to ferment so warm (up to 28°C I think). It's not good up that high, much much better down at 18-20°C.
By the way, have you tried fermenting from Coopers yeast recultured from a bottle? It has very similar fermentation characteristics to the dried yeast, but a very clean, less fruity, finish.

w00t!
I did a nice Coopers blonde with the following:
Coopers Canadian Blonde + kit yeast
1.5 Kg Coopers Light Liquid Malt Extract
500g Yellowbox Honey
10g Hallertauer Hops (AA - 4.5%) @ 15 mins
10g Hallertauer Hops (AA - 4.5%) @ 5 mins
It was shitty in the first 6 weeks though; the honey tastes tend to linger for some weeks after bottling. It's a great brew now though, sweet and flavoursome, great for summer, pity there won't be any left by then
.
I'd go Saflager yeast next time, other than that, its a great kit. Came out above 8% too

A homebrew is like a fart, only the brewer thinks it's great.
