Hmmm I've never tried glad-wrap before, maybe I should give it a go with the one I'm going to do on the weekend. The only downside I can think of is you wouldn't get that great bubbling sound when its really going off
Well I had to try the gladwrap method.
I've used it on the last 2 brews and it seems to work ok and it is great to see the brew fermenting.
I do think snapping a lid on a pail is quicker and easier though.

Same here, i found the glad easier than trying to unscrew the lid without disturbing my beer and stirring it all up. I used to screw it on bloody tight to get a good seal which made it harder to open.
Not quite sure why that one went beserk, but I'm still going to keep using it.
He he he Ya can't blame the gladwrap for that one. Though it does lend a touch of visual splendor to this minor dilemna. I hope that you're standing by to apply a fresh coat of cling-film to this baby.
I like to apply two layers in criss-cross fashion just to make sure those edges are really covered. Not that it would have helped in your case.

Fill your bottles before you remove the lid then.
I use the screw style with the 2 piece airlock. When I rack or bottle from one of my fermentors I just cock the lid to the side which lets air back in through the airlock but does not allow things to fall into the brew. Been brewing for 4 years now like this and never had a stirred up trub or infection
