They were $16.50 each from Australian Winemakers in North Melbourne. No idea about other places as today was the first time I'd seen Malt Shovel kits. Grain and Grape have them online for $17.90 - not sure if they are cheaper in store.
By the time I walked out today with my ingredients (Morgans kit, amber malt extract, hops, saflager yeast) it came to almost $30. I didn't pick up any crystal malt yet as they didn't have English crystal malt - so add say another $3-$4 for this and it is pretty much the same as you would pay for two malt shovel kits and a yeast.
While this is a fair bit more expensive then buying a normal kit and kilo, I would think if the results are anything like the actual JSAA it will be money well spent.
PS HBS guy said he had some James Squire Golden Ale and it was even better than JSAA - anyone tried this?
