love the red dwarf reference blandy - that's got to be one of the best shows to grace my TV ever - got all 8 seasons on DVD now :lol:

They got close to making the movie: a few times they even got close enough that they cast a body for Kryten.

I've got all eight series on DVD, and they always get brought out when I'm brewing.

Damn! I moved to the ACT too early!

I've got to ask, has anyone seen those US pilots of Red Dwarf? Bloody hopeless.

Yeah, I remember when they were going to make it but nothing ever happened! Criminal! Writers should be legally forced to finish the story!

I have seen the US Pilot - typical US-ification of everything, didn't even get past the first 10 minutes. Any British comedy has translated very poorly to the US...case in point the US version of The Office.

I have a confession to make: I saw the US version of The Office before I'd seen the British version, and actually don't mind it.

In general, though, I agree about the translation of British comedy to the US. In fact, there are very few US comedies I think are funny. Seinfeld included. Talk about a yawn! One of the funniest US shows is Boston Legal, which Channel 7 has seen fit to drop. Again.
