well tis ok but up here retail people are generally not that polite compared to major centers...

One hbs I have frequented the fairer partner is not polite at all (doesn't drink etc). This is very offputting for any retail business.

well, my local home brew shop is owned by a husband and wife. i always get served by both. why you ask? i take my 1 year old boy into the shop, the wife takes my boy and shows him around and i speak with the husband. love it. they are such a helpful couple too.

My HB shop has both, and the advice I get from each is fine. What difference could it possibly make if it's a man or a woman?

Before I get leapt on, let me say that males and females can do most things in equal ability. There are many things that females can do better than males (including jelly wrestling and lesbianism) but sorry, I just can't get into talking beer with a chick.
