Great excuse to drink two infact make it 6 but completely unnecasary, ive made up all my yeast starters from only 1 and they work fine, Just put down a coopers sparkling last night and its already off and running, put in a chimay a few days back and made the starter out of a 330ml stubbie- no probs with that one either
I thought I was doing well with todays effort until I saw the $3.00 tooheys kits you bastards!
Tooheys Lager $8.00
1.5kg Morgans Light Malt $10.50
Spare coopers yeast $free
55g Saaz $dunno, 2 bucks maybe?
Total $20.50
Yeah I know I could have done it cheaper but the Tooheys kits don't have a good rep and I kinda like the Pilsener style so I 'pilsenered' a Tooheys kit!!!!
Better be alright too since the pink raspberry beer is a bit of a worry!

Also just done another chimay ( recipe under belgian strong ales), ingredients cost me about $30 and then the stubbie of chimay $8.50 on top, i consider this a cheap brew as a 750ml bottle of chimay blue retails for $20 and ive just made 20 bottles for under $40
I tried a search using Belgian Strong Ales but couldn't find it.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ldme 2.3kg
black grain (crushed) 30g
soft dark brown sugar 400g
blended honey 250g
bittering hops hallertau 40g
bittering hops goldings 20g
if you can get hold of a bottle of chimay blue label then make a starter out of it but if not just use a good ale yeast eg. safale or wyeast abbey ale
final volume 15litres
boil all ingredients for 40 min then strain and adjust to 15 litres with cold water, wait to pitch yeast untill it reaches 25*c.
sit back and crack a cold one as usuall
Its in the recipe section under that title Belgian Strong Ale Recipes
