I think it most certainly is better. It's one of the easiest drinking ales Ive ever tasted.

hey pale_ale, bushmans hotel in gawler has it on tap, as does the tanunda hotel and worldsend hotel in the city... not sure if any of those three are of help...

Thanks guys, Gawler and the Barossa is a bit of a trek for me, but didn't know the Worldsend had it! Sweet!

This is on tap at Jewells Taverns, Jewells (Belmont North NSW), in Newcastle.

The bargirls came to my work today and I quizzed them.

They say it is lovely. A real Summer beer.

Not sure where you get it but you can get an "Ale drinker's pack" which comes with a 6 pack of Golden Ale and a 6 pack of Amber Ale. Maybe Dan Murphys?

Went to Liquorland (ex Theos)....Start Rant...I have to, they have bought out everyone in Belmont.... bastards, so no competition and range.

Anyhow, bought a case of Amber Ale and a stubby of Golden Ale to test.

Drinking it as I type and it is bloody fantastic. Very hoppy like LCPA, and is almost as good.....almost.

I am about to attempt the clone tonight, which was Ash's recipe from memory, but I will have to buy more Amarillo as the hops are a standout in this puppy.

Well that tells you something I reckon.

I agree on the LCPA thing, it has the aroma but no where near the bitterness IMO.

Finally tried LCPA.

Very fruity and lovely Ale.....BUT.....ain't as good as Golden!!!!!!!!!!

I'll third the motion on the JS Golden being better than LCPA.

I will have to defend it's honour on my own.

I rate the JS Golden very highly for sure........maybe I am biased as the LCPA was the first beer that I had with actual "Flavour".

Had this on tap Friday night at Bridie O'Riely's on Chaps. BEST BEER EVER.
Easily better than the amber, and slightly better than LCPA.

A bottle shop near me has 6 packs of the entire Squire range on special for $15.95, I bought the Amber Ale a few days ago, and it was awesome, but after reading this I immediately regret my decision! Let's hope they're still on special.

surley, golden ale is where its at. i'm even willing to walk to said bottle shop and pick you up a 6er, you lazy bugger!

golden ale is indeed truly great, but the amber ale is not far behind! different styles altogether, but man i love the nutty aftertaste of the amber ale.
