OK I've just put down a Coopers lager and a 1kg of dex, 18litres total and sprinkled safale US56 (18deg) on top.
I made this because it was the first brewI made and it was pretty good, the only difference here is the US56 and 18lt.
Hopefully there won't be any fruity tastes going on.

Make sure you control the temperature around 18c. I also just noticed your recipe if you only use dextrose this may have been the reason for that fruity taste, not the yeast.

Next batch try using a blend of dextrose mx 500g and some malt 500g, the difference will be huge.

I kept it simple so there was no extras that could've added to "fruity" taste.
This brew is the same as my first as it was in the coopers kit, and did have a slight fruity taste but nothing like the ones with the us56 yeast.
The brews I made with the us56 was a coopers draught and brewcraft brewenhancer #10 and the other was a mix of coopers lager, can of light malt liquid, dex, corn syrup and por. And both had the same fruity smell and taste and the only common part was the yeast.
Thanks,
Grant.
