Use whatever suits you.

You can use dry malt, but the carb drops are OK, even if somewhat inconsistent between bottles. Other options are dextrose or just plain white or caster sugar.

Some people swear by bulk priming. I tried it once, and decided it wasn't worth the hassle compared to my usual priming routine.

I use caster sugar, and one of those sugar measures from the HB shop. Be aware caster sugar is finer than ordinary sugar, so it packs tighter into the measure. I therefore have cut mine back to only use about 2/3rds of a standard measure, and it's plenty.

I'm a devotee of bulk priming with dextrose when bottling.

I would go with what you're happy with. Like you I generally use the Coopers drops and have no problems with inconsistant priming. I did try priming with LDME for a few bottles and other than the extra hassle I could notice no difference.

I have used a nonome brand of carb drops, they were all odd sizes so they turned into lollies for the kids.

The extra cost of the drops is not noticable, and it allows my 8 year old daughter to help (to date the only time there was a stuffup was the only time I did the priming when she was in bed.)

Nothing interesting to see here, move along.

Thanks for the replies I'll go with the drops, just wasn't sure if I had to use LDME for this beer.
Cheers.
