Gas bottle pressure question
Hello,
I have only dispensed 3 kegs with my 4.5kg bottle.
I have noticed within this time the bottle psi pressure has gone from about 700psi to 400psi.
Is this normal after only 3 kegs? Could I have a leak somewhere?
Thanks in advance.

must be a leak somewhere, I have had a 10kg bottle for a 2.5 years now, only half gone and many kegs drank inbetween

Is the bottle in the fridge?
This does sound slightly excessive but i have always used bigger bottles!

The bottle is outside of the fridge... but it is under my patio outside, could the cold weather affect the reading?
Re: Gas bottle pressure question
It wouldn't get that cold. Even in the fridge my tank reads around the 500 mark and higher when out of the fridge.

Cool, sounds like a leak then...
Any tips on checking for the leak, eg, gas line, regulator, kegs??

Re: Gas bottle pressure question
Check all connections with warm soapy water from a bottle sprayer bubbles will appear at any leaks.

Couldn't wait until the weekend!
I seems I have a slight leak where the regulator joins the bottle...
I did notice when I first got my regulator (Harris brand) that the part that joins my bottle (brewcraft bottle) doesn't exactly match up or fill the gap totally.
Has anyone experience this before? Do I need some sort of adaptor? Any solutions??

Re: Gas bottle pressure question
A gasket is missing I think...
Also, the Reg needs a real good tightening onto the Gas Bottle, also some thread tape wouldnt go astray on the threads...

use gas rated thread tape as well, not water rated

Thanks for the tips...
I emailed the place I bought the regulator and it turns out the nylon seal wasn't included with the regulator - hopefully this should solve the problem!!

Re: Gas bottle pressure question
Dont Use Thread tape. If you have a gasket between the 2 flat surfaces and tighten the nut correctly(not cross threaded) it will seal.Thread tape on the threads is useless, not to mention very dodgy, on a loose nut fitting. If gas can escape from between the two flat surfaces the connection is has not been tightened correctly or the gasket is damaged and if it does escape it will escape between the shaft from the reg(which the nut can slide on) and the nut. Using teflon in this manner is very common with the home handyman and keeps me in work.
