Ready To Bottle?

Post by ChazMan »

Hey guys,

Hoping my coopers lager (microbrewery kit) is ready to bottle now - has been fermenting for almost 6 days now and the bubbling in the valve has ceased.

Wondering if its ready to bottle now then??

Also, can i just rinse the provided PET bottles out with cold tap water or do i have to do the cooled boiling water thing..

It should be ready to bottle. Check your hydrometer reading. It should be about 1010 to 1008.

You really should check two days in a row that you have the same hydro reading before bottling though.

If it is the first time you've used the bottles, just rinse them out with cold water. That's what I did all those years ago :)

I will check the reading soon - will it matter if i leave the brew for another day before testing again?

Na, Mine stopped bubbling on saturday, it will be next saturday before I start bottling. Giving it a good 2 weeks to ferment.

I'm with Longwood. I leave all my brews at least 2 weeks in primary fermenter. You can be assured it will have finished fermenting then, and it will then be ready to bottle.
