Small flies that seem to be coated in lactobacillus sp , and have an unnatural obsession with drowning themselves in 20L of your best wort.

Yes and yes! I guess I am going to have to keep a bait for them in the bottom of the brew fridge now. How they got in is anyones guess.

after three batches of using glad wrap it is just provides confirmation of what i've read on this forum and from palmers. i actually feel like I know what is going on....

interesting... those vinegar flies aren't the ones i'm thinking of.. i'm thinking of the tiny little black ones, about the size of a small common ant with wings... they LOVE rotting fruit/vegies (probably the same reason they're attracted to beer - fermentation).
i had a bunch of rhubarb in a plastic bag that got "forgotten" on the kitchen table
. When i disturbed it to move it, i had a shitload of them rise up... took a LONG time and a lot of various insecticides to eradicate the bastards.

lol, no. they are not fruit flies. i know what fruit flies look like, these are way smaller.
