Not any more, it`s not.
Keith Linden, in "Brewing Beer At Home" , published 1970, says on page 32- "you must cover the vessel with a sheet of polythene secured by elastic...."
So it looks like it`s been around for about 40 years. Doubt they even had Gladwrap in 1970 :(
