What holds your drink ?

Post by Biggles »

Im curious to know what other people drink there produce from ?

I drink from a heavy-ish pewter mug, I find it holds the temperature the best, its down side is I dont get to "see" the beer , like you would do in clear glass.

I have a glass beer mug from the 1920's / 30's that my wife's great great grandmother gave me a few years ago. She died earlier this year, aged 101. I treasure the beer mug but I still use it because that is what she gave it to me for.

Last count of the vote, 25% each way. But I must say I do use a large pilsner glass and I find that I can fit in a 650 ml after the first large scull and my missus having a slurp to satisfy her thrist for great home brew!!

There's no option for a fickle mind!!! Dammit!
I drink from, a 7oz, a schooner, a pint, or a pint with a handle. Depends on my mood and how often I feel like getting up to refill!

I don't have any pewter, I'd try it but I like to ee the beer too, especially if it looks pretty!

Come to think of it, if all my glasses were empty I'd drink out of a Vegemite jar!

I have 2x 375ml Pilsner Glass', 2x 425ml Country Brewer Tumblers, a Guinness Pint Nonic, a 425ml James Squire Stange, a 250ml Grolsch Goblet, 2x 285ml Hahn Weizen glass', a 300ml Crown Lager pilsner glass, and 3x 570ml Plastic Steins (2 of them I got yesterday at Oktoberfest, 1 at Schutzenfest a couple years back)

I use whatever suits

I've got a set of 6 crystal pot glasses which I use when friends are around and I think they are worthy of something better than straight out of the bottle (I offer it, and if they take it then they are worthy).

Most of the time I either use one of these pot glasses or my pewter beer mug I got as a birthday present from my girlfriend last year. Both have their upsides:

Pot glasses allow you to see the beer,

Pewter mug holds more, keeps it cooler for longer, and is a pewter mug!

Mostly 375-425ml glasses.

My footy team mug (Parramatta Eels) holds a pint.

Problem being is that I need a fresh glass every beer. :D

My wife hates that

My favourite is a 300ml Lowenbrau branded glass tankard, but I HB in 500 ml Schwelmer swingtops.

Some of my HBs hold the yeast on the bottom, and I can top up my tankard for a clear brew. But some don't!

I then use my 1 pint Royal Doulton glass tankard my eldest son gave me Xmas 05. Bought a second at Myer in a half price sale a few months ago, as a back up in case I have been lazy and not cleaned the original.

But visitors? Got a few promo glasses for them, and they are appreciated, I think!

My favourite glasses are for me, and me alone!!! Still trying to educate SWMBO. And that is a battle!!
Cheers,

Pacman

A few years ago the local bottlo gave me about a dozen boxes of Oranjeboom glasses of different shapes and sizes. So always glass, but size and shape according to the style of beer.
