James Squire Golden Ale

I tried a stubby of this last night and am impressed. I love their Amber Ale, but in IMHO this is probably better.

Lovely citrusy flavour and finishes nice and crisp. This is an Ale drinkers Ale.

I tried this last weekend - probably the best commercial beer I have drunk. Just loved it.

Better than most beers you will find, but a bit too sweet for mine. I much prefer the amber ale. They have them on tap at the local.

This is my favourite at the moment (the favourite that I can afford to have semi-regularly that is). I found it on tap last night for $5.50 per schooner. It tastes much better at home. I don't know whether tha glasses were dirty or what but it just didn't taste right.

$4 a schooner at Penrith Panthers. Easily the best value beer I have found in Sydney.

I find the Amber to be the sweeter of the 2.

This is great stuff. It's on tap at the pub near work for $7 a pint. Pretty good value.

I agree with Wassa that it tastes better than the amber. I don't know which I prefer between this and their IPA, though. Maybe a session is in order to find out.....

Agreed. I prefer the Golden to the Amber, and that's saying something! The Amarillo hop flavours are superb.

This is one of my faves. Local pub has $5 pints at the moment, good Summer beer.

Although I am hoping they do the Hop Thief again this Summer...

out of the two I find the amber a bit too full bodied to be drinking at the pub.

Knock back a few goldens no worries though

Has anyone tried the new Fresh Wort Amirillo Ale yet? It is supposed to be just like the Golden Ale, and being a fan as well i cant wait to try.

As said above Panthers had it very cheap on tap but i think they have taken it off tap. $4.00 a schooner is a bit rich for us westies. Need the $2.80 V.B.

That one is going to be my next brew. Just heard about it last week. The guy who brews them apparently works a couple of days a week at Squires.

Sounds good anyway. 8)

Really? That's a shame. Although it was only available from the bar next to the Flavours Cafe. $4 is nothing really and is well worth the extra compared to a VB.

Could always come to the ONLY RSL in sydney which lets you in with thongs on all the time.

They have Amber and Golden on tap.
