Glad you liked it mate. I drank my bottle last night and enjoyed it, although the first few mouthfulls were overcarbonated. Gotta love the control that kegging gives you. The Sonnett Golding has a unique flavour I think, supposedly like EKG. I want to buy some more from hops direct next season to compare as it's a relatively new hop. It's sort of funny you thought it was an APA as I used the Kolsch yeast with only 5% medium crystal.

Cheers

Actually I called it a pale ale because I wasn't sure what it was. With an English hop but little crystal and a fairly neitral yeast it's hard to define, possibly a golden ale but I'm just as happy to call it beer and drink it.

Probably why the drinker seemed to enjoy it so much, too :P

Hyjak's light wheat.

Slightly over carbonated, but the resultant huge head goes well on a wheat beer! Fruity, orangey aroma, reminiscent of Hoegaarden Belgian wit yeast. A bit of a palette tester really. Mild contribution from the yeast, along with some malt and a reasonable amount of citrussy hops if my taste buds serve me correctly. Enough malt sweetness to support the substantial bitterness although a hint of that harsh, kit type bitterness does manage to sneak through in the finish not that I'm complaining. Overall a really good beer that would seriously refresh the drinker after mowing the lawn on the kind of hot summer's day one seldom if ever gets in Northern Tasmania. :P

Hyjak's Last Goop.

Bit overcarbed but no problem. Hops on the nose but I can't be sure which variety/ies. Assertive bitterness with a good balance of supporting malt. Clean fermentation character that allows the late hops to shine. A really enjoyable American style amber ale. Yum. :)~

Sounds like you enjoyed them, good stuff.
Both are all Amarillo beers, Wyeast 1469 for both too so not sticking to any guidelines at all, very much mongrel beers but still quite enjoyable as you have found out.
Oh incidentally if the names and taste didn't give it away both are can based the wheat all extract but the goop had a Coopers sparkling tin in it along with some Rye and amber extract.
Cupboard clear out brews.

Yeah. Really enjoyed both of them. Just goes to show that regardless of ingredients, the right procedure can make all the difference.

High five. :D

I had Barls' Framboise just before Chrismas.

Sorry no photo but was brown with a red tinge when held up to the light. Very nice beer with an intense raspberryness that carried through to the finish. Enough lambic sourness to keep the drinker interested without being over the top. Pretty well balanced in my opinion. Delicious.
