Cloudy yeast cake

Postby emnpaul » Monday Apr 18, 2011 9:04 pm

Hi everybody,

I have a container of yeast cake saved from a mild ale. I have washed it twice, following Dr Smurto's instructions. http://www.homebrewandbeer.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=8705 This is my first time washing and splitting yeast.

The problem is that the water sitting on top of the yeast is cloudy and hasn't cleared after three days in the fridge.

Is cloudy water normal?

Should I be concerned??

It has some trub and hop material mixed in with the yeast. I'm assuming this can't be prevented, at least to a small extent anyway. Is this assumption correct???

Cheers

A little cloudy isn't an issue.
