Copper Reflux and condenser

Postby Fearandloathing » Tuesday Jun 26, 2007 9:07 pm

Copper reflux column and condenser for sale. All joins done with silver braze 7% approved for household water supply and containing no lead. All joins tested to 1600kpa with a static water test. It runs between 80-90 percent on a 5 litre electric boiler and 93% using a dimmer switch to control the boil rate. Remember that its illegal to put this on anything bigger than a 5 Litre boiler and you can only make essential oils with it if you live in australia. But if you move to new zealand you can put it on a beer keg if you like.
The condenser easily connects to the sink or you can get a cheap fountain pump and set up a circulating system in a bath or something as your reservour.
The boiler is not included i'll chuck in the hoses for sink hook up if the buyer needs them.
The first pic is what you'll get the second is it hooked up to a five litre boiler.
$250
PM me if interested

Cheers

Hi fear just wondering what is inside the reflux column also is the reflux rate ajustable to alter the temp? and does another thermometer go in the top so you can see what the actual outlet spirit temp is rather than the boiler?

Well I prefer to use pyrex packing as opposed to wool, so its currently filled with broken pyrex. I was going to put an outlet on the top for a thermometer, but the first time I ran it on an electric boiler it came out at 93 when I just kept the temp to a minimum with a dimmer switch controller from the hydroshop, so I just figured leave well enough alone, and I was happy with what it was producing. It would be pretty easy to drill a hole through the cap on the reflux column for a thermometer and bung. It would be possible also to put a ball valve between the thread that conects the reflux column to the condenser, which I did consider to control the reflux rate further, but yeah like I said I was pretty happy with what it was putting out and so were my mates so I never bothered.
Oh yeah I've also made a couple of custom ones for my mates and some pot still condensers if anyone ever needs anything made up. Just email me at plumbondude@yahoo.com

Cheers

Matt :)
