Selling used beer bottles (tallies) - Brisbane, QLD

Postby bottleguy » Friday Jun 09, 2006 11:31 am

Hi all,

Firstly congrats on a great forum (and website) for beer brewers and drinkers! I plan on getting back into brewing soon... :)

Is there a market for or are people here interested in buying tallies? Do homebrew stores buy bottles from the public?

What is the going rate for selling the bottles? I've heard around $1 a bottle...

Thanks,
Bottleguy.

I bought two dozen crown tops for 50cents each a month or so ago in Brisbane.

I was thinking about this the other day. It occurred to me that you can buy a longneck of Coopers for around $5. So if you rinse the bottles and sell them for 50 cents each, it's actually a pretty good way of recouping some of the costs.

Or you could just homebrew, I guess!
