What, invited into the big Off-Limits Special-Invite-Only tent to watch the sheep-shagging competition?

Lucky bastard.

Chaps, I've come to the realisation that Pink Floyd got it all wrong; the lunatic isn't on the grass, he's in Western Australia sitting on his computer. It was said in another thread, but traffic here would pick back up if he was not allowed to post here anymore.

not disputing his brewing ability, but there is a reason he has been kicked off other forums.

Still happy to take you up on a beer speedie.

Doesnt explain your erratic and bait throwing posts though.

People are getting tired of it, and if you keep calling the moderators softcocks you will get permanently banned here as well.

Just my 2c worth.

Would like to taste your award winners though.

But I have to say, 'casual agitator' seems to run with your approach to this forum mate.

Cheers,
Chris.

Beer awards must involve a considerable degree of luck. I’m a relatively inexperienced brewer (Age 24) but I’ve done quite well at a couple of competitions already. Got a gold at the age of 22 with a beer I made at the tender age of 20. Brew in question was nothing flash & now I’m curious as to why it did so well.

I guess I’m saying that beer awards, no matter the situation must be taken with a grain of salt. I’m not a brewing genius, but still manage to get a couple of medals at most of the competitions that I enter. I’m putting this down to luck more than anything.

Let’s not forget that judges are always going to be a little subjective, no matter how experienced they are. A judge could be in a foul mood one morning (or hungover) and potentially be swayed towards a beer that might not be to style, but (potentially) be more refreshing.

Just my thoughts…

Most of them are probably open to some $$$$$ in a brown paper bag too.

How else was Steinlager judged world's best or whatever back in the mid 80's.

And in case there are any lawyers (or beer judges with a penchant for litigation) reading this thread, it's now a general conversation about beer judges, not any beer judges or group of beer judges in particular :-)

Cheers,

Were that the case, Speedie, you surely wouldn't be so stuck on making sure that everyone knows you've entered competitions nor would you exclusively regard the posts of others who have done so.

The most of us here simply brew for our own pleasure and couldn't be arsed with competitions, but then we don't all seem to have quite as much to prove as you do. Whatever happened to you in your youth to make you quite so insecure must have been horrible.
