Hey Mick,
Packed your lotto winnings today, Posting tomorrow.

Its a nut brown ale, been filtered so you can drink straight from the bottle.

Oliver wrote:Thanks Bum. Had a great day. The missus took me to the Royal Mail at Dunkeld (Vic) on the way back to Melbourne from Port Elliot in SA.

We had a very nice meal and some great beers: Emerson's Bookbinder Bitter (a real winner of a beer, a bit like LC Roger's but with a lot more aroma and a bit more body, but about the same alcohol); a Roger's for comparison with the Emerson's; and a Bridge Road Pale Ale (which was an excellent beer, it's just a shame about the spelling errors and incomprehensibility of the blurb on label, which I'm inclined to write to the brewery about :) ).

More on the visit at a later stage, because there was another very interesting aspect to their Beer List. Time's a bit short now.

Cheers,

Oliver

I bottled mine today as its the first chance I've had, went up to the local post office only to be told they are sold out of wine boxes after 20 mins in line! ggggrrrrrrr

Its in the fridge now but bottling from the keg I'd prefer it goes out in the mail soon. First chance I get to another PO it will be on its way :-D

Great Chrissy present.....or was it B'day present?....either way.

Thx Tipsy, doc & Earle.

Earle, that Choc porter went down a treat, have you posted that recipe on here somewhere? I will be looking!
I hope mine comes out something similar, would like mine to have a hint of honey as well.

Cheers, Mick.

Glad you enjoyed it Mick. I have posted the recipe here http://www.homebrewandbeer.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=10331
I think it was bottled in Sept 2009 so has had plenty of time to mellow. I snuck a bottle of the Vanilla Bourbon Porter that I also sent you the other day. Even though I only bottled it just before I sent it to you its already tasting good.

Urgh. Just poured about a stubby worth of my entry into a 1L jug and it is completely full of head. Never happened to me before and I'm really hoping it is just a bottle issue. Definitely fermented out prior to bottling. Head dies down reasonably quickly and the beer that there is in there does not appear heavily carbed so I'm disinclined to call it a gusher. Basically tastes and smells the same as it did earlier. Dunno what is going on at all.

When you do get around to it, Mick, pour over the sink just in case and lemme know if does happen and I'll send you something else by way of apology.

Should have my weizen bottled and sent on Friday. Best enjoyed fresh, so drink around Australia Day (or a bit before if you have to). Will update on Friday when it has been sent. Sorry for delay - busy time of year.

Been slack, and busy, but it's not forgotten.

I've actually pulled the bottle from the beer cellar, and it's ready for packing and sending.
Will do that on Monday.

Opened two bottles tonight without incident but I am still spooked. If it seems excessively gassed when you open it just put it aside for a couple of beers first.

My weizen is in the box and ready to roll tomorrow. I kegged the rest and I am pretty happy with the result (I don't brew many), so hope you enjoy.

I took a chance and bottled in glass, so I am crossing my fingers for you. I forgot to label the bottle, but it's got a red cap. I have also included the recipe, brewing notes and some related info from Paul Haesler (Canberra Brewers), whose recipe I used. Will probably be ready to drink by next weekend, given abient temps and agitation in transit.
