HBS in Canberra

Postby Neil » Monday Jan 19, 2009 3:26 pm

Sorry if this highlights my laziness, but I'm going to be in Canberra for a couple of days at the end of this week and just wanted to know if there are any good HBS in inner Canberra. I normally patronise Ross but if I can pick stuff up freight free while on a trip that's a bonus for me.

Cheers

G'day Neil.

I dunno if this helps ya, but I found the blokes at 'Brew Your Own at Home' to be pretty helpful. They're in shop 5 Kambah Village. Gave me some good advice when I was first getting into brewing.

Cheers.

Thanks Workie. I'm really after some specialty malts and miscellaneous stuff.

You would be mad to go anywhere other than to that shop in Kambah. Bloke who runs it (Colin) is just a top guy. Knows his stuff and has a wide range of products. I used to live in Canberra and always had trouble going to that store as I would invariably leave with more than goodies I had intended to purchase.

Again - it would be a complete waste of time to even think about going anywhere else.

You can ring them to check opening hours on 62961412.

Moving to Canberra in February, so I'll probably be a frequent customer.

Thanks Throsby. Sounds like a mighty strong recommendation - I'm going' there!

Cheers

Colin also provides 10% discount to Canberra Brewers club members...

He has an excellent range of base malt, specialty grains and wheat - whole or cracked.

Cheers,
TL

Too right, TL. I had a great afternoon with Colin and assorted brewers wandering in for gear. No affiliations, etc. but I can heartily recommend BYO in Kambah. Now, how to explain to the wife and kids why my bags are full of grain and hops and funny little bags of white powder, and no pressies...
