Letter to CUB re VB price hike

The good, the bad and the ugly of commercial beer and breweries, including microbreweries and craft breweries.

Letter to CUB re VB price hike

Postby Pyssedas Heavy Industrial » Wednesday Jul 04, 2007 12:54 pm

We at Pyssedas say that their argument that the price is based on CPI increases is economic lunacy - we have written to them [letter can be found over here - http://www.pyssedas.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=205 ] and intend to write to the Reserve Bank and the Federal Treasurer this afternoon!

Sadly, as usual, we do not expect a reply to our letters...

The best way to stick it to the man and protest against the price increases is to refuse to buy their products. Unfortunately people have this ridiculous sense of loyalty to certain beers and big companies like Fosters know this.

Big companies use CPI increases to justify the fact they want to make more money.

I thought VB was only popular because it was cheap.

When you can pick up a slab of CPA for almost the same price...

Does anyone care what the price of VB is? I couldnt care if it was $5 or $500 a slab/schooner I still wont drink it. Hopefully, with the price rise it will mean people will go elsewhere.

That and the fact that they are cutting the booze % in it from 4.9% to 4.8% to get a tax break: http://www.smh.com.au/news/business/vb- ... 79114.html

Maybe it will turn others to homebrewing.

Iron and timmy said it in one.

Refuse to buy their product and spend your money on something else.

Think Aussie (or German if you have to, preferably Aussie)
but your tastebuds will thank you for it.

I used to (always) buy V.B. mainly cause it was all i knew.
The more you branch out, the more you will benefit.

We don't need mass produced crap in the market.
It is a dying breed , hence the reason to gain some profit from a dying product.

it's popular because of advertising, people will believe anything. i can't see people paying 40 bucks for a slab of VB tho when they can get a "premium" or "imported" beer for the same price or cheaper...unless it comes with a boonie doll

http://www.pyssedas.com/forum/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=7 - we should note that at least they responded to our earlier letters

I work in a bottle shop and people fork out $41.50 for a case of VB. Tooheys Old drinkers are far more intelligent. When Old isn't on special we'd be lucky to sell 1 a week and soon as it goes on special we sell about 20 a week.
