Mac's Hop Rocker

The good, the bad and the ugly of commercial beer and breweries, including microbreweries and craft breweries.

Mac's Hop Rocker

Picked up a 6 pack @$11.90 tonight, out of curiosity (was buying sparkling wine for SWMBO).

Quite impressed. Very similar to the Hophead Pilsener I brewed, and am now enjoying, at my local UBrew4U. Would need someone like Michael Jackson to pick the difference.

Thought Mac's would have displayed a little more bitterness, but a damn good 8/10 nevertheless, and I am a bloody hard marker, believe me!

Back label refers to addition of Crystal Malt, thereby leaving room for "serious hop addition", which consists of Nelson Sauvin & NZ Cascade.

For $2 a stubbie, this is a seriously good beer, IMHO.
Cheers,

I tried this one a few weeks back and bloody loved it. I haven't found a Mac's beer that I didn't like yet. Nelson in N.Z's south island is a Mecca of great beer with many little brewerys to choose from. A must visit if heading over for a holiday.
