Golden Carolus

Post by SpillsMostOfIt »

I'm hooked on the stuff that comes from those crazy Belgians.

Today, I bought a bottle of Gouden Carolus. It's a trippel - a lot like the blue Chimay but stronger in flavour and aroma (from fuddled memory). It has the nice warming character, peppery (I think) phenolic character and malty flavour that I identify in the blue Chimay.

It's 8 point something per cent alcohol.

It's a lot cheaper than Chimay - $5.50 v $6.95 at Dan's (I think) - but stacks up pretty well in flavour, if not in pursuing the work of God. If that sort of thing does not worry you, you should give it a shot. I'm wishing I bought two bottles and am annoyed I didn't start my Belgian obsession sooner.
No Mash Tun. No Chill.

No confirmed fatalities.
