James Squire Pilsner

The good, the bad and the ugly of commercial beer and breweries, including microbreweries and craft breweries.

Hmm should be contraversial but I really like the Pilsner!

The aroma is fantastic and I find it to be very Pilsner-like despite what I have heard othrs say.

Well, I did ask

I don't like it stupidly cold, but on a summers day there's nothing better than a CPA that's been sitting in the ice tub all arvo

This beer really annoys me. Sometime it's great, reminding me of what it used to taste like 2-3 years ago, & other times it's just plain rubbish.
Of late it's been tasting good here in Sydney.
I recently sampled a few bottles on a trip to Melbourne & was very dissapointed.

I know what you mean Chris, I think it's sometimes the price you pay for semi-boutique-ish beer. Coopers is inconsistent as well, both CPA and CSA can taste terrible at times (it's a numbers game with the amount of it I drink)

I've only tried 3 different pilseners ever (tooheys pils, JS, and Bamberger Kaiserdom).

I didn't think much of the German one. I liked the James Squires the best, really liked its colour, aroma, flavour. I was actually surprised at how much I enjoyed the Tooheys - I am not a fan of their stuff at all.

The 2 aussie ones had a crispness that was lacking in the German one surprisingly.... in my opinion anyway... there are probably so many variables...

I thought the Tooheys Pills was their "lager" in a flash bottle!

JS is nice but try asking for it after too many! ;)

I prefer the Blue Tongue Pilsner. Though I'm a bit biased...it tastes almost identical to my pilsners!

Have to admit that I don't mind the JS Pilsner, but none of them compare to Urquell.
