Liquid Dinner

The good, the bad and the ugly of commercial beer and breweries, including microbreweries and craft breweries.

Liquid Dinner

Hey Guys,

I just got back from Dan Murphy's and whilst I was there I was going to grab a bottle of Jim Beam or something, but instead I thought I would have a beer dinner. I grabbed a single bottle of 6 beers that I have read about on here as being delicious or people asking for clones

I got
1 x Little Creatures Pale Ale (Only ever had the bright Ale)
1 x Mattilda Bay Redback Wheat
1 x Grolsh Lager
1 x Schemer Pils (Spelling)
1 x Pilsner Urequel (Spelling)
1 x Blue Tongue Lager

Oh and a bottle of Jim Beam......

Should be a good dinner......

Not the Blue Tongue lager. Worst microbrewery in Australia.

Wouldn't go much on the wheat beer, but then again I don't like wheat beer.

1 x Little Creatures Pale Ale (Only ever had the bright Ale) - Not bad, pretty boring - taste's almost identical to the Bright Ale, just not as hoppy
1 x Mattilda Bay Redback Wheat - Not good at all - smelt horrible
1 x Grolsh Lager - Boring
1 x Schemer Pils (Spelling) - Not bad, a little bland
1 x Pilsner Urequel (Spelling) - Not bad, was expecting better
1 x Blue Tongue Lager - Boring, boring boring

Oh and a bottle of Jim Beam - As good as ever

I personally feel that Hahn Premium really makes other lagers boring - they really lack aroma and taste.

Can anyone recommend a good lager?

Cheers
Fuzzy

Steigl is not bad if you can get hold of it.

Also try the Paulaner Pils.

James Squire Pilsener is pretty tasty. As is Hansa Pils. Hansa Pils is also great for collecting 500ml crown seal bottles :D
