Of course, you have to wait a while to get the effect. The longer you wait, the hotter the onions get. Of course, as the onions get hotter, the pickled chillies that you are making as a byproduct get milder. Need to balance these competing effects. Requires regular sampling, much beer, ...

I have done this. Effect is still pleasing, but, as I said, not as noticeable as a chilli wheat beer. This one really kicks, and, as the direction this thread was going was discussing highly resonant feedback loops involving eating and drinking, the chilli wheat beer has the money!
