Temperature drop during Mashing

Do you guys have issues with scorching? I have heard that can be the case if you aren't careful.

I have been very lucky with infusion mashing, I can hit the temp bang on and my drop over an hours mash is only 1 deg F.

How much are these immersion heaters? Couldn't find one on craftbrewer... :?

Immersion elements are easy to use and you can get scorching if you leave them in the one place for a long time without moving them - I use mine as a mash paddle / temp controller. They ensure the heat is evenly distributed through the mash rather than pouring all that enzyme denaturing boiling water on top of the mash surface.
They are also handy when you want to speed up the heating up of the strike water when you start brew day - I have a 50L HLT that sits on a 3 ring burner and the 2400W element helps speed up the water heating process...
