From what I understand of Steinlager it's all Green Bullet hops. I could be wrong? I'll be attempting a beer similar to it in the future, was just going to go pils with some wheat and all Green Bullet.

Would be interested to hear how you go.

G'day'

Digging up on old post here. I've been contemplating a Steiny for a couple of months and thought I better get my A into G before the weather heats up.

If you're out there Timmsy, I was wondering what your Kiwi mate thought of your attempt? Or if anyone else had tried with any success in the mean time?

I'm still relatively inexperienced with lagers but the brew fridge should take pretty good care of me in that regard. However I'm not sure what a good choice of yeast would be for this beer. I have some splits of WLP833 german Bock lager and some fermentis S-23 in the fridge but would be willing to get a more appropriate yeast if necessary.

Any thoughts appreciated
Paul

As far as I have been able to ascertain it's all green bullet. There is also some arguement as to whether Sticklebract and NZ Hallertau are used but that seems to be an older version of the brewery's recipe.

I am happy to be corrected on any of this information though.

BTW I never got around to this one. Couldn't bring myself to pay postage on the Green Bullet so made a German style Pils instead. It is top of the list for next winter.
