I brewed with honey a while ago. After a two-three week carbonation period the honey aroma was great. No sweetness, just a subtle aroma.

Three months later, I discovered a box of that batch that I forgot about and cracked one open. Whilst still a good beer, the aroma had disappeared altogether ...

I brewed a similar brew (except I had corn sugar instead of lactose) and it was beautiful. I did boil all the ingredients after dogger scared me into it with his e-coli stories...

Did you boil the apples? It may have been an off taste from something in the apples?

Just a thought...

I've also put one of those bottle resealers you can pick up for wine bottles on a glass longneck after I've poured half of it out. Next day it was still good and fizzy with good head.

greg b it was Coles at Hurstville, but it isn't available all the time - only when they want to get rid of old stock, they ditch it on the discount trolley. There were only two cans there, so it seemed like destiny that they would be in the same brew. I haven't seen any cans on discount since.

That ...

I found two cans of dodgy Wanders Lager on the bargain trolley at coles going for $2 each. Figuring each would be light on hoppiness, I threw both in a 23L batch with 500g of honey (free from my mother).

Bubbling away nicely and the colour is a rich brown. Never used Wanders, but what they hey, it ...

Redbull is one of those caffienated energy drinks.

Mixing it with alcohol becomes what is affectionately known as a "bitch drink". Up there with Bacardi Breezers and Sub Zeros. Perhaps this "beer" would qualify.

India was a case of "the final (unconquered) frontier"... the Ashes is a bit more like "been there done that".

Having said that, Flintoff has developed into an exciting player and they've gotten rid of Nasser "Captain Boring" Hussein.

I think it'll be a better contest than previously... but then ...

i don't keg, but i used to airbrush and got food grade CO2 from BOC gases which have outlets all over australia. generally you get an account and when your cylinder runs out, you just return it and swap it for a full one to any BOC outlet.

if you try dried, make sure you get the preservative-free ones. i think the preservatives in some dried fruit may retard the fermentation process?

Most of the organic dried fruits are preservative and artificial colour free.

Hope it turns out a ripper!

Another thought on the adhesive - if you use spray adhesive, it comes right off with a bit of lighter fluid. I'm not sure how water proof spray glue is though... I might do some testing and get back to you on this one lads.

I have thought about doing a label for my brew to give some bottles away as Christmas presents.

Being a graphic designer, I have all the pro software, but I think CorelDraw is one of the best value-for-money packages out there.

If you only want to use the software for a short amount of time ...

I'd rather just pay the extra couple of bucks and get a can of Coopers concentrate, which is only about $4 more anyway, rather than pay all that money for all the extra bits just to bring it up to scratch.

Well what was going to be a thrilling second test is ruined by the rain. Martyn and Gillespie had set up a thriller. India needs 210 runs for victory and it rains! This'll probably be a draw... boo hoo.

if you look in the gardening water systems section in K-mart, there are usually all sorts of attachments and joints for hoses. My guess is there is probably a liquid fertiliser attachment that fits to a hose to introduce the fertiliser directly into the water stream as you're watering the graden. If ...
