You lost me at "AG grist mashed at a lower temp"
Never brewed AG Only enhanced kits and extracts. I always find that dex makes that kind of brew "watery" if you know what I mean.

Re: Boonies LCPA
Hi again.
This is the closest thing I have ever brewed to a LCPA. It's not too heavy. Wouldn't ruin it with dex.
I normally leave my brews for three months before drinking. This one I tried after three weeks in the bottle and it was fantastic.
Definitely has to be dry hopped with chinook near the ...

Just about to brew another batch of this wonderful recipe and have realised I have run out of Cascade hops. Any thoughts on how it would go replacing them with Amarillo?

Re: exploding bottle.
Hi Gibovski.
I'm not saying this is correct, but it may be that you had an infection in that particular stubbie. This will cause the beer to carb up a lot more than normal. I've had it happen to me once in 12 years of brewing.
Cheers
Tommy

Probably closer to 3 weeks. Just check your SG readings.Pom wrote:Just to add to this question. Ive just put down a Cezch pils using saflager yeast and keeping it at around 12c. Im thinking this should take longer than two weeks due to the lower temps. Is that right?

Robust lager
Having just realised that my supply of Wazza's Honey Porter is running very low I need to make a few batches of something robust and flavoursome, but given the current temps I want to use a lager yeast.
Any suggestions on a full-bodied "lager" ? Enhanced kit or extract.

Re: Ghetto Yeast Starter
Hi aurelius
I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but it isn't really a good idea making a starter from a dry yeast. Much better off just rehydrating it about 30 minutes before you need to pitch it. You will see if it is active and viable enough by then
