Re: The Loaded Dog - Tarago NSW

I too can recommend the Dog, but will qualify that by saying I only had one of those standard beers on tap. Why can I recommend it? Well, I didn't get kicked out!

As for bikes. You can take your Brits and Yanks...I'll ride Eyetie!

Re: Stella Artios

Imagine my surprise when, deciding to treat oneself, took a carton home only to find, printed in small print on the underside of the carton, THAT IT WAS BREWED IN MELBOURNE! (or some such place, I'm too angry even now to remember). Filthy bastards charged me premium imported beer price for rubbish ...

Hahn Crown top stubbies - Free.

I have 4 crates of Hahn Premium 375ml stubbies. I think there's about 15-20 per crate. Cleaned. Free. Pick up in Springwood NSW if anyone wants them?

(Why? I don't really use the little bottles much and they came with a bunch of stuff from an ebay transaction)

I can't bring myself to take them to ...

I'm with rwh on this one, have found lagers to be pretty disappointing. I guess it's just not my style. Maybe you could try some pilsners ?

Well, it was a medicinal or "band aid" taste that ceased after I commenced racking. I've had infections before but they never tasted like these ones.

Of course the only thing that I did different was leave the brew in the primary fermenter for an extended period of time at ale temperatures, nothing ...

I should qualify my last comment...

My brews have suffered from autolysis but only the ales and only at moderate temperatures.

The lagers and pilsners, at low temps, no dramas. Of course, those things need to stay down for longer anyway and it's not unheard of for some of mine to be left in the ...

I don't see how removing the beer from the yeast is going to help it ferment out.

Has it stopped or just slowed?

You can remove the beer from yeast simply by racking?????

Autolysis! Bastard of a thing!
I had that very problem and it took ages and several brews to work out what I was doing wrong! There are now several blokes who won't attend my humble abode for fear of being served the dreaded "Band Aid" beer.

I think 3 and 4 weeks were doing it to mine, lovely ...

I brew in a garden shed out the back with no insulation or heating...so for me it's ales/stouts in summer and lagers/pilsners in winter.

by the time it comes around to drinking a batch...I'm drinking the lagers/pilsners in summer and the ales/stouts in winter...too easy!

To answer the first question, the temperature of the gas will vary more rapidly than that of the liquid. Is it possible to immerse your flexible temp probe? I did read correctly that you've run it through your air lock???

Re: Shit beer/Trouble with brewing/Help/whinge

I am reasonably new to brewing. Started several months ago. I bought the coopers kit and made my first beer, which was the one that came with the kit (ie: Coopers Lager). It was pretty decent (ie: drinkable), and better than a couple of my mates first attempts so I was pretty happy with that. I did ...

I simply can't justify the cost of those things! Yes I'm a bit of a scab, that's one of the reasons I started brewing. My favourite bottles are those NSW Bottle Company ones with the the dates on the bottom that I find on road trips. Or those pickaxe jobbies! I get a holiday and free bottles!

The ...
