Ive been using the coopers drops since I started about 6 months ago and have had no problems. They have new ones out now that dont stick together, so it makes it a lot easier.

The most expensive brew I have made cost about 45 bucks.
But it was:
Muntons Orig Bitter
2kg Dextrose
1.5kg Light Malt
Safale

So we got our moneys worth.

Just got a recipe from Graham Simpson, the brewmaster at brewcraft.

Black Rock Colonial Lager
150g Cracked crystal grain
30g Cascade hops
Safale
1kg light malt

Im going to try it as soon as my fermenter frees up. I reckon it sounds pretty good.

The longest ive ever left a brew is about 3 weeks and it was fine then. Not sure when autolysis (i think thats what its called) kicks in. As for the bubbling, that how Ive been bottling lately, cos I broke my hydrometer. Whenver it stops bubbling, I bottle.

What are your favourite beers?

Thought it would be interesting to see what beers people enjoy the most. A couple of my favourites are goat pale ale, grand ridge blonde, paulaner munchen and kilkenny!

Making an American Pale Ale

Hi guys,
Im keen on making an american pale ale, similar to little creatures or mountain goats pale ales.
Has anyone made something like this? If so could you tell me what you used, whether it was any good, what you would change next time etc?
Thanks guys,
Sean

I have found this with a couple of brews. There doesnt seem to be much head over the first couple of weeks, however, after a couple of months, one of my brews was hard to open because it was too well carbonated, this resulted in more head in the glass than actual beer. Dont know why it happens though.

Did you prime the bottles with sugar? This is the only way I can see flat beer occuring. Perhaps someone else has some other solutions?

I actually prefer the pale ale too! I know people rave on about the sparkling ale, and while it is good, for some reason I like the pale ale better. And beers always taste better on tap.

Of all those beers up there, I chose carlton cold. All the people I know who say they dont like beer, say carlton cold is the only one they like.
But I reckon the worst beer Ive ever had was carlsberg elephant (piss). It was one of the only times Ive ever struggled to down half a glass. Kingfisher ...

Well, at all the local pubs around here, you have a choice between carlton draught and vb. No wonder heaps of people drink premixed spirits.
And matty, I wish I had some of the holgate beers on tap around here!! I reckon theyre a great range.

Sounds good, too bad theres not one in melbourne! There seems to be a lot of variance in belgian beer. I dont think Im a huge fan of some of the belgian beers though. Perhaps it comes with age, but I just dont enjoy beers like chimay or leffe or bush. Maybe I just need to drink more of them?

I voted beermakers, because the best beer Ive made was the beermakers dutch lager. Ive tried others like muntons and coopers, which both seem to be pretty good. The only dodgy one I have tried is Bacchus and Barley, which is a local brew shops own brand. It was pretty terrible.

Yep, I would also recommend the Coopers kit. Ive seen several other kits sold by brew shops which are more expensive but dont really give you anything extra. The coopers kit gives you EVERYTHING you need to brew. Enjoy!
