Re: Best Selection of Beers In Brisbane

5ifth Element is indeed nice with the Alpha and Franz Dunkel, and Jill is quite an attentive bartender!

I see Platform is standard, but they're having a special beer night tonight.

And three cheers for the return of the Brewhouse! Note - The Clarence Corner Brewhouse 2.0 is nothing like, or will ...

Re: Little Creatures Single Batch IPA

I have to wonder if they were experimenting with the original awhile back, because the bottle I had tasted strangely familiar to the bottles of LCPA I got with an expiry date of April 2010.

Re: The Brewhouse - Brisbane CBD

Stopped by Easter Sunday and had a schooner of Brisbane Pale Ale. It was tasting good, and loved the closeness to the Mater busway stop! We went in the door by the corner straight into the bar where the TAB was. What a mistake! I should have reconn'd the place before mentioning it to SWMBO, but she ...

Re: Specialty bottle shop

I've had a good run on the SNPA I've got at 5th Element in Brisbane. The dates on them have been July 15 2010.
They have the Unibroue line as well, with mid 2010 dates. I'll be by there later this week & will ask who the distributor is.
Their Flyimg Dogs & Meantimes come from Innspire.

Re: Micro-brewery in Woolloongabba, Brisvegas

I went to Brews Brothers once in early '08 when they had an open house. The beer wasn't too bad.

They just had some bands playing there for 4ZzZ a while ago.

Re: The Brewhouse - Brisbane CBD

Yeah... hope to get by there sometime this weekend if I can dodge the colsed hours. Looking to try the Brisbane Pale Ale on tap. They say it's better than what was on offer last year at the Good Food & Wine Show.

Re: Coopers Pale Ale

The Malt & Vine in Redmond, east of Seattle carries Cooper's Pale and Tooheys New, and no Foster's! They had it stocked when I was there last in May 2009.

$120 for 24 SNPA's ... $5 a bottle. That is roughly the price one pays for one in California at an expensive restaurant.
I can get single ...

Re: Best Selection of Beers In Brisbane

Have to say I've been enjoying the 5th Element in South Bank lately.
The Alpha Pale is pouring nicely, and Sierra nevada Pale is available in the bottlo.

Re: James Squires in Brisbane?

I was in The Glen on Logan Road in Eight Mile Plains awhile ago and was glads to see James Squire Golden and Pilsner on tap!
They are trying to up their beer game, but it seems to come at the cost of losing Kilkenny.

Re: The Brewhouse - Brisbane CBD

I've pretty much given up on this place returning. Miss the place.

I now spend my time between The Platform, 5th Element, with a stop at the Pig n Whistle on Queen Street for the Stone & Wood, and a walk to the Belgian Beer Cafe on occasion.

They got the Sunny Coast Dunkel back on last night? The afternoon had the #2 slot as LC Roger's.
Enjoyed the Stone Beer and the Meantime IPA.

Re: The Brewhouse - Brisbane CBD

It is returning - probably opening Oct/Nov - & in the city :D
Woo-effen-HOO!

Edit: Word from Brisbane Brewing Co (maybe that was you Ross?) at the Good Food & Wine show is a new pub may be opened in February or thereabouts. Said their brews should be available in either Drinx or ...

Re: Best Selection of Beers In Brisbane

Unfortunately they'd run out of the Big Helga though
Had one Sunday at the Good Food & Beer Lunch, & it was now filtered and introduced as Matilda Bay's new beer. Have to say it wasn't as big as the unfiltered keg they had to kick-off Craftoberfest.

Re: Best Selection of Beers In Brisbane

Was there Saturday afternoon and the list went back to being rather ordinary. The Midnight blew out so that is done. The SC Dunkel remained a strong pour. Others were the stalwart and tasty Stone & Wood, and they had the three usual James Squire brews along with Hoegaarden.

Had a pint of Stone & Wood at Pig n Whistle as a primer.
A good Saturday with beer !
