Well I seem to have got some noses out of joint OR I am completely missing what is going on here. (Is someone taking the piss out of me)
Some of us don't have the time / money / general where withall to spend hours in front of a fermenter watching it bubbling away or buy all the better ingredients ...

Even Idiots Can Do It
G'day All,
I am a fan of Coopers PA. I have brewed a number of them and shall continue to do so cos I like the stuff. I tried Coopers Canadian Blonde and it wasn't really my cup of tea (nor should it be given that it was beer)
Anyway I put a brewed a tin of CPA and must say I didn't really follow ...

Re: NEW TO BREWING - UNIMPRESSED WITH LOCAL HBS
Well me too.
The bloke I spoke to criticised me for asking about the plastic Coopers bottle - "waddaya want them for" and for enquiring about Cooper kits - "buy 'em from us - the stuff from Woolies isn't as good as the super duper premium Coopers kits that we sell".
Maybe not critical in the ...

Tasting Beers
Evening Folks,
A quick question! I have noticed that there have been suggestions to taste the brew before it is bottled.
I am wondering - what should it taste like. Should it taste like what you expect the finished brew to taste like - except a bit flat. What other features should a fella (or girl ...

Re: Coopers Kits
Well ain't this just the most bestest place,
Thanks for all the help so far, its bloody great.
The temp has 'dropped to a pretty steady 24C. I know its a bit warm but at this stage I don't have a real way of cooling it down. I shall deal with that next time.

Kit Yeast
I have a question.
There has been some discussion and from the gist of it the kit yeast aren't much chop.
This being the case, why do the manufacturers supply something that is less than ideal?
I am sure we can all modify things to our own taste but generally speaking what is wrong with that ...

Re: Coopers Kits
Thanks Swainy.
The SG is 1.012 earlier today (from 1.034). I shall check it tomorrow and if it is the same I guess I should bottle it even though its only been cooking since lunchtime Thursday.
Any further advice gratefully received

Re: Coopers Kits
When I get brews at high temps and it stops bubbling after a few days I usually pick up the fermenter and give it a slight sway in a circular motion just to get the yeast out of bed. I reckon 90% of the time in drops another 2-4 units on the hydrometer.
Thanks swainy I shall give it a try. There ...

Re: Coopers Kits
Put down the CPA on Thursday. It was a bit warm to start with and was bubbling away six hours later. The bubbling stopped when I added a little more water to the airlock. The family reckon the bubbling was annoying them - sheesh. It has stopped bubbling now and is sitting at 24C. It was in the late ...

Re: Coopers Kits
I will be the first to admit that I am a real novice when it comes to beer making - drinking it is a different story of course. But I made a CPA with sugar and I thought it tasted not dissimilar to the stuff that Cooper make. Should that be expected???? And from memory I drank it all.

Re: Pickaxe Bottles
You have got know idea how many Scout Bottle Drives I went on collecting beer bottles (Pick Axe and others).
Used to be great money spinner too. Paid for additions to the Scout Hall, paid for a boat and other gear.
The deposit system works well in SA. You don't see too many bottles or cans on the ...

Re: Coopers Kits
Yeah thats the impression I was given. I shall cook up a Big Dub version then I might give the premium range a try. I am pretty keen on the pale ale (in fact anything Coopers being an ex South Aussie) I don't think that there is a pale ale in their premium range. Do you know what might be close??

Coopers Kits
Hi All,
This is my first post and although I have searched cannot find the answer to my question.
Coopers make a kit (the original) that is sold in supermarkets and another sold in HBS (Thomas Cooper).
Are they the same quality? It has been suggested to me that the former is inferior to the ...
