Forgot my brew now its two weeks later
I had a bit of free time a fortnight ago and put down some brews, Coopers cheapies and completely forgot I had done them, worked into the spare room an hour ago and realised they were there.
The temperature in the room has probably been around 12-14 degrees, I haven't checked the gravity yet, but ...

Re: Black Rock - dark malt extract - what do I do with it
Thats weird first half of post went missing.
There is only one brewshop locally and its open only a few hours on a few days each week, i have a feeling business has been non-existant and they are just filling out their lease, bit unfortunate

Keeping brewing Cool without a working fridge
Exactly that, My first brewing was done in the deep south of NZ and you don't tend to have to worry about keeping the brew cool when brewing, my heatpad saw quite a bit of action.
Anyway i am now mid North island and I am having issues keeping the beer cool when brewing, short of sticking buckets ...

Black Rock - dark malt extract - what do I do with it
First off, I am fairly ignorant when it comes to beer, anyhow
I was at the local brewshop looking for LDME which they didn't have, so I saw a tin that said Malt extract and thought must be the same stuff or similar and grabbed it.

Newbie questions - Beer fridges, bottles etc
Ok I have been brewing beer for about 5 years now, but as i average about 2 brews a year (yes i am that lazy) I am pretty much a beginner, although I am now up to around 6 a year, which is probably laughable by the standards of some.
Anyway I recently purchased someones beer kit they had given up ...

Brew enhancers - making them & what suits styles of beers
Okay
I purchased bulk (well a few kilos of each I think)of LDME, Maltodextrin and dextrose.
And am wondering what mixes of the above are appropriate for what beers, I have heard you shouldn't use much LDME on pale beers as it overpowers the flavours etc.
And where the brewing tin says 1kg of ...

Re: Beer fizzing up when priming
Just an update
Yep adding the sugar first solved the problem, I also left it an extra couple of days as well, suprisingly it has come out as my nicest brew to date.

Cheers all
Is over pitching likely to be an issue, is there something i should/could do to lessen the efect, I am pretty much planning to bottle it tomorrow as its my free day.

Re: Beer fizzing up when priming
Yes I am adding the sugar after filling, never even occurred to me to, try it the other way around, will give that a go, and I'll leave it an extra few days before bottling as well.
Thanks a bunch

Beer fizzing up when priming
Hi all
Okey doke, pretty much any beer I make, when I go to bottle and prime it, it fizzes out if you don't get the lid on within a few seconds of adding the priming sugar.
most of my brews have been made following the instructions on the side of the kit and using plain old white sugar.
