Woh.

Try http://www.andale.com.au for fittings, and where to obtain them.

Why put beer in plastic? It don't belong there, unless It's a kit beer purchased from a Supermarket.

Even cheaper.

Purchase some Green and Red/Blue Electrical taple.

Green = Gas

Blue/Red = Liquid.

Wrap the appropiate tape around the handles, on their respective sides

Use a Morgans Canadian Light firstly. Add either a Brewcraft #15, or a Thomas Coopers Light/Morgans Pale 1.5k malt.

Just to put a conclusion to this old thread.
After about 5 days it finally fired up and bubbled away gently for a week. It had a FG of 1014 and was really cloudy and gross looking when I bottled it. It smelled okay and wasn't the most horrible thing I had tasted when it was being bottled.

I gave ...

Rule # 1 - Do not use Sugar. It is unpredictable, and will most likely give that Ciderey taste.
Rule # 2 - Use Sodium Met to sterilize. However, it does have a strong odour.
Rule # 3 - If the Beerkit is from a Supermarket, it will not be that great. Goto a Homebrew store, for the best beer ...

The date is mainly to do with the Yeast, however DO NOT USE A Coopers Yeast, as they are there for the price. Try a Morgans yeast at the very least, or Brewcellar or Safale.
One of the best beers I made was out of date, and simply by putting a $4.40 yeast with it, made the difference.

I only had problems when I had some Goldtops with Coopers on there. I ended up throwing 1/2 a packet out. The plain Gold ones from the Home brew store are far better, and work with both Crown/Twist.

Was it the Black label product with the GGGF on there?
Otherwise, I would not worry too much.

Morgans and Muntons are the 2 best value for money beers.
Brewcarft and Beermakers are good.
Blackrock is okay, but given they also make Tooheys, and my last 2 were ordinary worries me. :?
Thomas Coopers is good, but does not deserve to be downgraded by placing it on a Supermarket shelf. :lol ...

If you want a cheap beer, just use the homebrand from Coles, Woolies, Bi-Lo etc.

However, the better the ingredients, the better the end results. Use Dextrose instead of Sugar (Read http://www.countrybrewer.com.au/webcontent39.htm ) .
Buy a can of Morgans, which is @ $13-$14. It works out around ...
