Re: Mobile phone plans what a joke

Keep us appraised of how you fare Crazyman. I am sick to the back teeth of Telstra, but can't go without the coverage.

Re: Mobile phone plans what a joke

Same here in rural Vic. I am a Paramedic, and use my phone a fair bit at work. I hate Telstra with a passion, but no other provider had coverage out here. Got a Nokia Lumia blue tick phone, and coverage is decent.

Anyone know about the Aldi or Kogan plans? Apparently they use the Telstra network ...

It is a good plan. I would just advise you to nut it out first on a piece of paper, and get all your bits and pieces together. PM me your email, and I will shoot you the tools I use.

Re: What are you brewing?

Melykabeer

It is a slippery slope mate.

You start out popping tins of goop into a fermenter. Then you start messing about with hop additions and specialty malts. Then you are using calculators to work out malt profile and IBU's. Then....

Sometimes you end up with a micro brewery. Ask ...

Re: Toucan stout / Reactivated Coopers yeast

I made a coopers yeast starter a couple of years ago, doing much as you did, with sugar. Mine worked ok, but a few chaps pointed out to me that there is nothing much in sugar to get a healthy yeast population going, and that I ought to have used Malt instead. Given I am doing AG now, I use the last ...

Yeah that label is dreadful nonsense. I did enjoy the Red Duck labels, which just read, 'does not contain any real ducks'.

Re: What are you drinking now?

Had dinner at the Bright Brewery a week or so back. They have a few pretty decent brews on tap there. Unfortunately, they don't do tasting paddles on busy days, and the food was almost as bad as the service.

Re: What are you drinking now?

Been working slowly thru some of the specialties from Red Duck. A couple of so-so beers, but a few crackers.

White Garden - a wheat beer with rhubarb and raspberry jam in it.
Dude where's my cherry - summer ale fermented with cherries.
Belgian Vanilla Porter - amazing. A porter with vanilla added ...

Re: 2013 Easter Lotto

At this point I don't reckon I can get in. There are only a couple of bottles of the golden ale left, and they have been exposed to some pretty hardcore temps in the shed this summer. The other two beers I have in stock have both developed a curious flavour; not undrinkable, but NQR all the same. I ...

Re: Hop question

Holgate's in Woodend do one - Gruit Expectations. Been a while since I had one, but from memory it is a sweet, herby brew. I don't think it comes bottled, so you would need to visit (which I would recommend anyway). I would call it an acquired taste.

Don't apologise for using US05. I love it. Make up a starter from your last run wort. I have just used liquids for my last two brews, and will probably give them one or two more runs. If I don't see a decent improvement, it will be back to the US05.
