Re: Applying for uni today!

Already ahead of you there, that's where I'm looking. One's local is an important consideration! Though I've got to wait until my youth allowance comes in before I get in a share house.

And of course i'll still stick around here.

Jeez, they're cheap! Have to order them from overseas. Crafbrewer has them at $79 each.

Re: Applying for uni today!

Thought I posted this last night, which leaves me to wonder where it ended up. Did well in the STAT, so I should get good news Thursday. Might think about joining the Adelaide brewing forums as well. :)

Re: 2011 Xmas in July Lotto Draw

Hey, mine's in secondary, it's a Choccy Stout. It'll get to you in 2 1/2 weeks or so, but will need a bit of time to carb up.

Didn't end up as high gravity as I'd hoped, got a stuck mash and over did the batch sparge. So it's not as huge as I had hoped for, more average. Still nice though, I'm ...

"The options! The options!"

So I was thinking about spending some student allowance where the government probably doesn't intend for it to go if I get a good starting first year scholarship (assuming I'm get in to uni).

Kegorators are pretty confounding though, there's waaay too many options! Chest freezer, or fridge, what ...

Seriously wish 1469 was a regular. Next time it's out I want to have learned to slant.

Is this your most recent recipe? Want to try out a Landlord with maybe Ringwood, AG BIAB. Something fairly easy I can start out with.

3% Weyermann Carabohemian ...

Re: Deliverance Kits

Choosing yeast, like the rest of it I suppose, becomes good fun, but it's a little overwhelming at first!

It's a good idea to boil drive off chlorine, you can also just use a carbon tap filter.

Should be a good trip!

I've just laid out my first AG beer, a stout, so the winner will get a bottle of that.

Re: Thought I'd go for something really big instead...

Ended up doubling the Carafa and Oats due to an error with (our placement of) the scales. 750g Oats, about 800g Carafa. It worked really nicely though Also forgot to add the vanilla, about to do that now.
Forgot the initial gravity, I'll grab that ASAP.

Pitched with a big starter of 1469 ...

Thought I'd go for something really big instead...

If I've got the opportunity to brew with somebody that knows what they're doing, might as well make something really special! Inspired by the coffee and chocolate article in the new Beer and Brewer magazine that I'd only just discovered and the Hitachino Nest Espresso Stout I got as a takeaway from ...

Re: Chilly and Cheerful AG or Partial Eurolager?

Lagering works a treat, still quite pleased with how clean our kit lagers last year were.

I'm going to wait and see what scholarships I can score, might get some good equipment.

Re: Chilly and Cheerful AG or Partial Eurolager?

My experience is only with the dry lager yeast and with K&B but I found it worked very well. We had excellent temp control though, being brewed in winter and with a long lagering period. Very clean.

Loved the smell and taste of Hallertau, though tried Hallertau/Saaz and Saaz/Tettnager in later ...

Re: Ferment carbonation in corny kegs?

Bit of a brain fart there, but priming is what I meant. How did I forget it? :?

That's what I was trying to say. It seems a pretty low cost entry into kegging that I can add to later so I reckon it could be worth a go.
