Thanks Tipsy,
Haven't purchased the system yet - planning a road trip to Germany in October to make the purchase though. Appreciate the feedback on the cleaning - I remember it being a real pain. The Braumeister is expensive but most people have said that it's worth it for the simplicity and ...

Re: Braumeister (Automated Brewing Systems)
I've been away from Australia & making beer for the past eight years now but finally getting to a place where I can get into it once again. Won't be coming back home since I've now settled in Luxembourg after stints in London, Amsterdam & Paris (small apartments in these cities has made brewing ...

Re: Perth Royal Beer Awards
Beer awards must involve a considerable degree of luck. I’m a relatively inexperienced brewer (Age 24) but I’ve done quite well at a couple of competitions already. Got a gold at the age of 22 with a beer I made at the tender age of 20. Brew in question was nothing flash & now I’m curious as ...

Kimbo,
Simply add around 500-750g of honey when commencing the batch. Just add the kit, honey & sugar with some boiling water (to dissolve) at the start of the batch. Top up to 19L, pitch yeast.

Although not technically beer, thought I’d make a mention of my newest favourite cider.
All four of the ciders brought out by this Swedish mob are fantastic! They'd have to be given that they’re exported all the way from Sweden. The selection is:

Re: Award winning recipes......
Thanks for the feedback.
I'd be doing a full mash to add the additional malt, but now I’m inclined to think that's not the way to go. The honey flavour is dissipating as the malt used for the bulk priming is fermenting. Not yet 3 weeks in the bottle, so I’m putting down the sweetness to ...

Re: Award winning recipes......
Speaking of this award winning recipe at LCPA, I put down my own variant on Boonie's LCPA some time ago, for good albeit not great results.
The recipe was:
1 can Morgan's Stockman's Draught
1.5Kg LLME (Coopers)
1 KG LDME
20g Cluster @ 15 mins
10g Cascade @ 15 mins
10g Cascade @ 5 mins
20g Chinook ...

Re: Do you do secondary fermentation ?
I always rack, and often rack twice.
I find that it reduces the eventual sediment and the bottom of each bottle considerably. The second rack is usually more important with batches where a large amount of dry hopping has been put into the secondary and a second rack removes more of the hops from ...

This’ll probably sound a little insane however:
April to October is my heavy ale season where I brew strong & speciality ales constantly, most with a 2 week ferment & 2-4 week condition prior to bottling. Each of these brews goes into the 640ml bottles (280no). These beers get aged from 6-24 ...

Braumeister (Automated Brewing Systems)
Guys,
This brewery system has come to my attention from the G&G website. It looks really, really cool and sparked my interest for my next major brewery addition. Check out the website for info!

Hey guys,
So it has been sitting in my fermenter for 3 weeks now and it's still bubbling approx every 15seconds. Is this normal?
Is it safe to bottle?

Re: Wax Coatings / Storage of Bottles
Unfortunately no, I got busy making some regular beer (people kept on bitching about my beer being too strong - bloody pansies) not to be aged for several years and decided against looking at wax coating. I’m currently on my summer beer schedule making lighter beers & GB, but I’ll be back onto ...

How'd this end up going for you mate?
I've got 2 batches nearly ready for bottling now with some slight differences such as Dextrose vs. Raw to see what makes the best batch... I'll let everyone know my full results once I've done some comparison taste testing...

All I can see is that some basic ingredients have been listed, which would help anyone trying to clone an LCPA -
that is surely a positive post, and great information to start a clone with.
Unless something has been deleted before I saw this thread...
Cheers,
Grog
Yup, it's been cut down a lot ...
