If you have the room for it - old fridges that do not work are an excellent way of doing your method with ice - the best part is they are free

Any of you guys who have a keg ever blown the secondary fermenter out with CO2 first?

Have never found the need for doing this as CO2 is heavier than air and will follow your brew down as the fermenter empties, to blow some CO2 in the keg before you fill it might make a difference but I have ...

Re: Cooling a warm keg to serving temperature

Just curious, but how long does it take on average to get a warm corny keg down to serving temperature in your kegerator ?

An empty fridge with 1 corny put in at room temp. in summer =
24 to 36 hours is my estimate, my fridge's are 20+ years old.

With an already chilled keg and adding a second ...

When it really starts tasting good is when the keg runs out, the longest I have heard of a beer in a keg was going on 2 years - it was a stout.

I have a few people that always have told me they like it hot, well I just could not resist  ,

Coopers Draught
Kilo dextrose
1-1/2 litre of sliced Jalepeno peppers ...

Aluminium Wort Chiller ??

I was kicking around a few ideas about using aluminium tubing to make a chiller and think I could make even a double pre chiller for under $40 with bits I have laying around.

I am looking for some advice/thoughts/tips on any type of chiller and yes I have access to a tube bender so that is not a ...

I will agree with Ash,

If fermentation is complete just refrigerate and keg later.

Have been in a similar situation and that is what I did - no problems.

Try a Coopers Dark Ale sometime - talk about foaming up.

Also to prevent so much foaming slow down the water flow as mentioned above and hold the mixing spoon upside down under the stream of water - if it is still alot I will scoop out most of it to prevent it from blowing out the air lock - seams ...
