Re: sodastream bottle??

I'm new to this as well. Just got my first four kegs delivered and then discovered a peculiarity about living in the NT (at least the Alice Springs part). You can't own your own gas cylinder and take it somewhere to be filled up. It seems completely crazy to me but that is the way they do things ...

Re: Dishearterning Results.

Stale taste has been associated with oxidized beer. It is also described as tasting like cardboard and smelling like old paper. Does this sound like what you are getting? Have you been careful not to splash the beer when bottling?

Re: Pics of my new keezer/kegarator!

Looking very good.

I would buy a 6.8 kg My Keg on legs cylinder. You can get them at most HBS now. I am picking mine up on Friday. Cost is $350 full and you then own the cylinder when you need a refill take it back and swap for a full one, refill is $50. No more ongoing rental.

With the ingredients you have added and a FG of 1020 stable for 3 days I would say its finished bottle away.

Re: Most hated job in HB

+1 for intense hatred of washing the bottles, though I'm a lot quicker now than when I first started. I can't keg because I wouldn't drink it quick enough!

What has speed of drinking got to do with not being able to keg?

I was under the impression that once you tap a keg you had a specific ...

Tim

Are you still having this problem? Have you tried playing with the pouring pressure to get the other one to pour well? Not all beers like the same pouring pressure, you may find the other keg will pour better at a different pressure

Re: WHAT THE ??

Sounds like your system is not balanced how long and what diameter are your beers lines? Rule of thumb 2m for 4mm line and 3m for 5mm line. How long is your beer line?

Undercarbed beer can also pour foam so testing with a flat keg does not prove much.

Another problem could be temp change at the ...

Re: Do I have to keg the entire batch?

Is there anything I have to do different from the nomal purging off oxygen and carbing up??

No. It will just take a little more gas to purge as you have a bigger head space.

This won't get rid of the oxygen but given CO2 is heavier than oxygen it should'nt affect the beer. I suppose you could ...

Re: Kegging Virgin

Your beer line is to short for the diameter used. Rule of thumb is 2 meter for 4mm, 3 meters for 5mm, and you have 6mm line so if will need to be at lest longer than 3m. Try lengthening your line or get a smaller diameter. It is better to start to long than short.

The beer line needs to provide ...

Re: The little things to add to a new system?

Any advice on how to get beer lines onto the ball lock barbs and beer shanks??

G&G gave me 4mm for my beer line and the barbs are 6mm. I've tried heating them up in a mug of boiling water but to no avail. I've got the gas lines split and onto the T junction just fine and its 5mm.

I dare say the ...

One of the things to be aware of is to not use a chlorine base sanitizer as SS does not like it.

No time drink as soon as cold. Mine get 15 minutes to settle from gassing.
